IDC News Release, 9/1/10
The worldwide hardcopy peripherals market experienced double-digit growth in both units and shipment value in the second quarter of 2010 (2Q10). According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker, the total market grew 20% year over year in 2Q10 to 29 million units while shipment value increased 14% year over year to $13.3 billion. This is the third consecutive quarter of year-over-year unit growth and the first double-digit growth for both units and shipment value since early 2000.
“We expect the market will continue to bounce back throughout 2010 but competition will remain strong and emerging markets will fare better than others,” said Phuong Hang, program manager for IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker.
