IAB meeting addresses promise of new devices, threat of regulation
Director Frank Capra for many years wintered at La Quinta Resort near Palm Springs while he worked on the scripts for some of his finest movies—generally upbeat productions, but with an occasional undercurrent of unease. The same description fits this year’s Interactive Advertising Bureau Annual Leadership Meeting, held recently at the same Southern California venue.
On the positive side: the resurgent economy and the vast marketing promise of tablets. On the negative side: the threat of government regulation of online behavioral advertising.
Google Chairman-CEO Eric Schmidt said in his opening day keynote address that online publishers had emerged from the recession stronger and more focused, and that the future looks even better.
