Nokia unveils first Windows Phone smartphones; Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 devices are based on Windows Phone

LONDON (MarketWatch) — Seeking to turn back the dial on the industry perception of it as an out-of-favor smartphone maker, Nokia Corp. Wednesday unveiled the first devices that will run on Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Phone operating system.

In a speech to open the Finnish mobile-phone company’s developers’ conference in London, Chief Executive Stephen Elop said Nokia’s NOK -5.15%   FI:NOK1V -3.94%  newest offerings would be called the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Nokia Lumia 710.
