Winners Announced for 9th Annual Game Marketing Awards; Twitch’s Kym Nelson Named Co-Chair of Game Marketing Summit

The Game Marketing Awards® (GMA), the first and only U.S. program that honors the finest work created by marketing and creative professionals in the video game marketing community, today announced the winners for its 9th annual program to celebrate best practices in marketing, promotion and advertising for the interactive game and entertainment community. The winners were selected by a jury of world-class interactive entertainment marketing professionals, with winners announced at a special ceremony immediately following the 2014 Game Marketing Summit® (GMS), which took place yesterday, April 23rd, in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

“On behalf of the GMS Board of Governors and IDG World Expo, I want to applaud all of the 2014 GMA winners,” said Mary Dolaher, Chief Executive Officer of IDG World Expo, owner of the Game Marketing Summit.  “Each recipient was selected by their peers against their own high standards of excellence, underscoring the fact that these companies and the individuals behind them are truly the best of the best in the uniquely challenging game marketing business.”

In addition to the GMA winners, IDG World Expo announced that Kym Nelson, Senior Vice President of Sales for Twitch has been named Co-Chair of the Game Marketing Board of Governors for GMS.  In this position, she will lead the Board of Directors, the governing body of the Game Marketing Summit that oversees key organizational activities.  She will serve alongside fellow co-chair Carolyn Feinstein, Senior Vice President of Global Consumer Marketing at Electronic Arts.

Yorke Leads Group Serving Many of the Media Company’s Largest Technology Clients

IDG Communications CEO Bob Carrigan has named Matthew Yorke, CEO, IDG Global Solutions (IGS) after Yorke brought together two sales and services groups to create one, new organization to serve clients worldwide. Yorke had been president of IGS since 2010 and also served as president of IDG Strategic Marketing Services (SMS).

In announcing his promotion, Carrigan said, “Matt has brought together two of IDG Communicationsmost important sales and service organizations, SMS and IGS, as they combined to grow revenues 24% from 2011 to 2012.
