IAB Announces Industry Adoption of Impression Exchange Solution to Combat Billing Obstacles– ADTECH, MediaMind, PointRoll & VINDICO Join Google in Committing to IES Implementation

NEW YORK, NY  — ADTECH, MediaMind, PointRoll and VINDICO have pledged to complete implementation of the IAB Impression Exchange Solution (IES) by the end of Q2 2012, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) announced today. These four member companies join Google’s DoubleClick ad serving solutions, which has already rolled out IES to its client base, in the industry-wide effort to improve efficiency and accuracy in the invoicing and payment processes.

Half Of Americans Watch Online Video: Nielsen Traditional TV Still King, With Monthly Viewing Up 1.9% in Q2

Internet video streaming is officially mainstream — with 48% of U.S. consumers now watching some video online — but TV remains the great American pastime, according to Nielsen’s quarterly report on media consumption.

Monthly time spent watching traditional TV in the second quarter of 2011 climbed 1.9%, to 146 hours and 20 minutes, a year-over-year increase of 2 hours and 43 minutes of monthly viewing, according to the Nielsen Cross-Platform Report for Q2 2011.

By contrast, time spent watching video on the Internet was 4 hours and 26 minutes per month on average, up 15% from a year ago — just 3% of the time parked in front of the TV.

PC Makers Are Seeing a Slowdown

The world’s two largest personal computer makers, Hewlett-Packard and Dell, said Tuesday that a slowdown in sales to consumers in the first months of the year damped overall revenues.

“The PC market continues to be bifurcated,” Léo Apotheker, the H.P. chief executive, said in a conference call with analysts. He added that “even though our consumer PC expectations had been cautious, the steepness of our Q2 decline is greater than what we had anticipated.”

H.P. said that sales of personal computers in the fiscal quarter ending April 30 fell 5 percent, to $9.4 billion. A 23 percent decline in consumer computer sales far outweighed a 13 percent increase in sales to businesses. Read more
